Best Songs of 2011

I started off putting these songs in order of what I thought were my favourites to my most favourites but then I decided, that's not fair. From a very eclectic group of songs, I just don't think you can really compare them against eachother. With that said, here's just a list of my favourites songs of 2011, in no particular order:

Phantogram - Don't Move

M83 - Midnight City

Cults - You know what I mean

The Weeknd - Initiation

SBTRKT ft Little Dragon - Wildfire

TV on the Radio - Will do
The Weeknd - High for this
Florence and the Machine - Shake it out
Wild Flag - Romance
Lana Del Ray - Blue Jeans
Bon Iver - Holocene
Birdy - Skinny Love
Dangermouse & Danielle Luppi ft. Norah Jones - Black
Grieves - Falling from you
Lykki Li - I follow rivers
JayZ & Kayne West - Murder to Excellence

LANA DEL REY; the next biggest thing

Lana Del Rey (Elizabeth Grant) is the next biggest thing. Her latest EP, Video games is nothing short of amazing. 3 songs deep; Video Games is emotional, haunting, and so mature - especially for a 26 year old. In October, she announced a deal with Interscope and a short tour of Europe and North America that sold out in minutes - and none other than yours truly, gets to go see her live!!

@Mod Club - November 30

O hungry? O Mother Mother

From Vancouver, BC - I bring you an awesome band that I've fallen in love with. O My Heart, although released in 2008, has been only a recent discovery of mine. How this album managed to sneak passed me, I don't know. What I do know is that I need to apologize to the last 3 years of my life missing out on this dance.

Mother Mother - Burning Pile

Mother Mother - Hay Loft

Little bundles of joy

Today's tracks are brought to you by Little Joy.
Association with The Strokes and Los Hermanos, this American/Brazilian band is full of sweetness and bright happy melodies. The Strokes need no introduction but Los Hermanos, if you haven't had a chance to listen to them, I recommend it. Their music is authentically beautiful with vocals sung by Marcelo Camelo. Little Joy are really a fusion of the two bands so check them out!

I'll be going a lil concert crazy in November. Two of the three I've never actually seen before so call me stoked! While I saw Deadmau5 at the Koolhaus about 2 years ago, it's going to pale in comparison to see him in Toronto's largest stadiums! I've got goosebumps thinking about it!

Cold War Kids- Nov 4 at the Pheonix Concert Theatre
Cold War Kids - Hang me up to dry

Coeur de Pirate - Nov 11 at the Mod Club

Coeur de Pirate - Wicked Games (Weeknd Cover)

Deadmau5 - Nov 5 at the Rogers Centre
